How to inflate, adjust and pack Air Cell

Relvie Air Cell uses adjustable air cushioning. The built-in pump adds air, and the release valve lets you soften the feel or deflate the cushion between journeys.

1. Check the seat and cushion

Compare the cushion with the usable seat surface. Air Cell's listed footprint is 44 × 44 cm; thickness varies with the amount of air. Check that the seat surface is clear of sharp objects and that the cushion allows a secure seating position.

2. Add air with the built-in pump

Follow the inflation instructions supplied with your cushion and use the built-in pump to add air. You do not need to bring a separate pump. Add air gradually so you can check the feel as you go.

3. Adjust the firmness

Sit on the cushion and check how it feels. If it feels too firm, release a little air. If you prefer a firmer feel, add a little air with the pump. Adjust in small amounts and check your position again.

There is no single air level that is best for everyone. More air is not automatically more comfortable, and the cushion does not have a verified universal pressure setting.

4. Check your position

Make sure you can sit securely and use any seat belt normally. For a flight, follow the airline's rules and crew instructions. If the cushion does not suit the seat or your position, change the setup before continuing to use it.

5. Deflate for packing

Use the release valve to let air out, following the supplied instructions. Pack the deflated cushion away from sharp items. Check its packed size against the space in your bag or case instead of using the inflated footprint as a luggage measurement.

Cleaning and storage

Follow the care instructions supplied with the cushion. Do not assume that the whole cushion is machine washable. Keep it away from sharp objects when using, cleaning and storing it.
